Gorthi Uday Kiran, a young researcher and social studies enthusiast from the city, has received a rare honor in London. His research paper, titled "The Impact of Social Media on Rural Youth: A Study," garnered international recognition. He was grandly felicitated at the British Parliament in London. Several prominent figures congratulated Uday Kiran, the son of noted social activist Dr. Nallani Rajeshwari and government headmaster Gorthi Venkataswamy. Having completed his M.A. in Sociology at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, Uday Kiran is currently preparing for competitive examinations. He pursued his primary education up to the fifth grade at Uday English Medium School in Ram Nagar, Anantapur, and completed the 6th and 7th grades at Sri Chaitanya School on the National Highway. He achieved excellent results under the CBSE curriculum for grades 9 through 12 at Akash International School near Bengaluru. While pursuing his undergraduate degree under Osmania University in Hyderabad, he also underwent preliminary training for UPSC examinations at KP 21st Century IAS Academy. After completing his B.A. (EPP), he underwent online training at a prominent institute in Delhi. He has traveled internationally to countries such as Singapore, Dubai, and the UK. He gained significant insight by personally meeting and discussing various issues with renowned Indian educationists and social activists. He specifically studied the initiatives of prominent voluntary organizations like RASS, PASS, and RDT, frequently visiting the homes they run for orphans, the visually impaired, and the elderly. Driven by interest in the topic he had explored during his M.A. (Sociology) project work at SV University, he conducted further in-depth research. He toured various rural areas in the Rayalaseema districts to specifically study the impact of social media on the local youth, observing that social media had captivated rural populations just as much as urban ones. He also conducted in-depth analyses of issues such as drug abuse control and skill development. Uday Kiran scientifically studied the findings and analyzed them in his own unique style. Encouraged by his mentor Chandrasekhar, his parents, and his teachers, he presented his research papers to the "World Book of Records" (London). Recognizing his keen interest and understanding of social issues, the organization's CEO, Santosh Shukla, extended a special invitation for him to visit London, where he was grandly felicitated within the British Parliament itself. A banquet was hosted in his honor within the Members of Parliament dining hall, attended by British officials and MPs. Social research student Gorthi Uday Kiran expressed his delight at having the rare opportunity to visit the British Parliament. On this occasion, Uday stated that he would continue to contribute his efforts towards rural development, poverty alleviation, and social empowerment in India in the future.
