Uravakonda:
A breach at the Summer Storage (SS) tank in Nimbagallu village, Uravakonda mandal, has led to a massive loss of drinking water. Despite painstaking efforts to channel and store Tungabhadra waters into the tank, residents are expressing deep anger over the failure of officials to address the emerging leakage. Locals fear that depleting water reserves could trigger a severe drinking water crisis in Uravakonda and surrounding areas in the coming days.
YSRCP Leaders Inspect Site – Demand Immediate Action
Leaders from the YSRCP inspected the breached site and demanded that Rural Water Supply (RWS) officials and public representatives act immediately on a war footing to plug the leak.
They highlighted that a similar leak occurred last year, and despite farmers submitting representations to the District Collector, no action was taken by officials. Farmers expressed profound grief over witnessing the precious Tungabhadra waters—secured amidst drought conditions—go to waste right before their eyes.
YSRCP leaders Ashok Kumar, Yogendra Reddy, Uravakonda Rural President Erriswamy Reddy, BC Cell President Dish Suresh, former MPTC Ishwar, Shivaraj, and Anji were among those present during the inspection.
